Training for Gundog Breeds

Every month the Isle of Wight Gundog club arranges training for Gundog breeds such as Retrievers and Spaniels.  This is for anyone who has a gundog and wants to enjoy having an obedient and well behaved dog. Our training concentrates on basic training and retrieving. All dogs have natural instincts and gundogs are no exception, training is about harnessing and controlling those instinct.

Our gundog training takes place throughout the year at a variety of grounds. Socialisation is important for any dog, but for a dog that you want to work in the field with others it is critical. Group training is a great opportunity for you to socialise your dog in a controlled and structured environment.

The training we provide is for:

• Pet gundogs and their owners
• Owners who want to take their dog into the shooting field for picking up or beating
• Owners who want to go down the competitive route and enter gundog working tests and field trials
